Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: October 2, 2026 · Parliva is operated by Isle de France Atelier, an Ontario sole proprietorship.
Who is responsible
Parliva is operated by Isle de France Atelier, an Ontario sole proprietorship, which is responsible for personal information collected through Parliva. Privacy questions and requests: parlivasupport@gmail.com.
What we store
Account information: your email, name, password (stored securely by our sign-in system, never in plain text) or Google sign-in details, and your marketing-email choice. Learning information: your exam choice (TCF Canada, TEF Canada or general French), target NCLC, goals, preferences, assessment results, AI-estimated levels, tutor conversations and AI replies, voice transcripts, mistakes, vocabulary, practice results and progress. Usage and billing information: counts of AI requests and voice seconds, token counts, estimated AI costs, your plan, and subscription status and Stripe customer/subscription identifiers once payments are enabled. Product activity: basic in-app events (such as signing up or completing onboarding) recorded on our own systems.
What we don't collect
We don't ask for government ID, passport details or immigration application numbers — please don't share them in conversations. We don't store your payment card numbers.
Voice recordings
When you use voice practice, your recording is sent from your browser to our servers and on to our AI provider to be transcribed. We keep the text transcript and the tutor's reply, but we do not save the audio recording itself. Spoken replies are generated on request and are not stored by us.
Why we use it
To provide your tutoring and practice, personalize it to your level and mistakes, track progress, enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, process payments, respond to support requests and improve the service.
Service providers
We share information only with providers that help us run Parliva: OpenAI (AI replies, transcription and speech — we send your message, a short learner summary and recent conversation, not your full history), Stripe (payments, when you subscribe; Stripe handles your card details), our cloud hosting and database provider, and Google if you choose Google sign-in. Some providers may process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws. We do not sell your personal information.
Consent
By creating an account you consent to the uses described here. Marketing emails are sent only if you opt in. You can withdraw consent by changing your preferences or deleting your account, though some features need certain information to work.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics or session recording. See our Cookie Policy.
Retention
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile, conversations, learning memory, progress, vocabulary and mistakes are deleted. Usage and billing records are kept without your account details where needed for accounting, tax and legal obligations.
Security
Access to your data is restricted so each user can only see their own information, and AI requests are made from our servers so our keys are never exposed. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you and the relevant authorities of breaches as required by law.
Your rights
You can view and update your profile and preferences, export your data and delete your account from your account page. For other requests — such as access, correction or changing your email — contact parlivasupport@gmail.com. If you're not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
We'll post updates to this policy with a new update date and tell you about material changes.
